EPILOGUE

The reader familiar with my other books will have realised throughout that for me it is really not the ‘narrative’ that counts here. –
I scarcely need to tell him that the narrative form of this book was chosen to make the teaching given in my other works, more accessible for those who too easily lose courage and give up wearily when finding only abstract teaching in a book; especially so when they only hear about things that are possibly too remote from their everyday lives.
Let me state explicitly that every word of this book keeps to actual experience!
The three men in the book became the author’s messengers of such experiencing and allowed him to create a picture to which he was able to add colours which would not have been used had he only wanted to portray this experience as such.
This also occurred in several places when the local background and the sketch of the three speakers underwent changes. This renunciation of ‘realistic depiction’ allowed the author at least to give expression to the experiences.
It did not seem necessary to him to characterise the three speakers in the book by anything other than allusion; the purpose was not to describe people but to give a picture of the teaching. –

*

Those who can and want to receive this teaching within themselves will easily release it from this framework; for some the interweaving form, chosen here, may even bring alive the teaching completely. – – –
Thousands have already found confirmation of this teaching in a multitude of ways. Yet there are still many thousands in all the countries of the earth who thirst after the ‘truth’, after the solution to the final mysteries. They stumble from one false path to another and end up recognising in resignation that no one can lead them to the source of knowledge. – –
May all these seekers gain the certainty of confidence from this book that they can nevertheless reach their goal if they follow those on this earth who alone are entitled to teach; – who impart not their own fond imaginings, discoveries and opinions, but teach as the ‘Father’, whom they alone know, commanded them to teach! – – –

Every age requires a different form of teaching; eternal wisdom decides how those who are their tools, are to work. –
The author of this book also does anything but act from his own judgement when placing the written word at the service of the teaching!
Where the spoken word never penetrates, the printed book is in our age still accessible and offers over and over again teaching to those who seek. This teaching would soon be blown away by a time enslaved to haste and speed if it were only to be received through the spoken word. –
Creating ‘communities’ of this teaching must be avoided, as well as pre-conceived dogma. Only the heart’s experience can prove what is true and real. – – –

*

It is not in any way reprehensible if here and there a group of seekers sets itself the task of living according to the teaching. But if many seekers after truth believe they can only further their search through common striving, none may think – if he does not wish to falsify the teaching – that it is somehow dependent on such common striving! – –
Even in this common striving, the teaching can only ever disclose its illuminating depths to the individual. In the end it is only earthly and personal inclination which may decide for the individual whether he wishes for others as fellow travellers or if it is sufficient to travel alone. – – –
On that high path to which the teaching leads, each one who wishes to follow the path is thrown onto his own resources alone, whether he knows of others who have walked the path or not!

*

Everyone may remain devoted to the religious community which has offered him from his youth the lead by which he hoped to find his way to the spirit. If he really finds it through living according to the teaching given here, then he will be able to deepen the dogma of the faith of his youth so that he can help others who have long since doubted the truth of the teachings of their youth, as even the teachers of their faith carried doubts within themselves and therefore were unable to help, needing much help themselves. – – – –

*

So may this book bring liberation and clarity and show all those seeking it, the way to the light! –
May all those with honest will find in this book the first stimulus to reach that spiritual height from where they will see that the goal and final purpose of their existence is no longer a ‘secret’! – –
